Naas Racecourse Strengthens Community Ties with Major Support for McAuley Place Expansion
Naas Racecourse is proud to announce its support for the expansion of McAuley Place, an intergenerational facility that provides independent living for older people in Naas town.
This vital community partnership will contribute to the development of approximately 43 new housing units on the recently acquired Beaufort site on the Sallins Road. The expansion will significantly enhance independent living options for older people in Naas and the wider Kildare area, coinciding with McAuley Place’s Silver Jubilee in 2025.
Naas Racecourse’s contribution represents a strong commitment to the well-being and cohesion of the local community. Known not only for its premier racing events but also for its dedication to local causes, Naas Racecourse continues to champion initiatives that foster connection, dignity, and opportunity across the town.
In addition to the financial contribution, Naas Racecourse has committed to ongoing support of McAuley Place through event promotion, community engagement, and future collaboration opportunities. This multi-faceted partnership reinforces Naas Racecourse’s dedication to enriching the lives of residents in Naas and surrounding areas.
Dermot Cantillon, Chairman of Naas Racecourse, commented “At Naas Racecourse, we believe that the heart of every great town is its community. We are proud to be in a position to support this special project, which will offer not only homes, but dignity, connection, and opportunity for older members of our town.”
Patricia Darling, Chairperson of McAuley Place, commented “McAuley Place is very grateful to Naas Racecourse for this very generous donation and for their ongoing commitment to support us as we undertake our new and exciting Beaufort Project. This new development will ensure that McAuley Place continues to be a vibrant place for older people to live at the heart of the community of Naas.”
Originally developed through a combination of statutory funding, local donations, and voluntary effort, McAuley Place remains a beacon of elder-focused, intergenerational living. During a visit in 2012, President Michael D. Higgins hailed it as a model worthy of replication across the country.
Both teams look forward to continuing their collaboration and to celebrating the successful completion of the Beaufort development in 2026/2027.
